What to try from Marc Jacobs Beauty now that it's at Sephora.ph

If you're a fan of luxury cosmetics, I'm sure you were pleased as punch to learn that Marc Jacobs Beauty is now available at Sephora.ph. Just like the famous designer's fashion sensibility, his cosmetics has an edgy yet elegant aesthetic. “I see beauty in many things and i am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It’s unexpected and surprises you," he says about his inspiration for the line.

The most famous Marc Jacobs product to date is the Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate (P2,848) but let's check out other items in the collection this time. Now designer makeup costs a pretty penny - prettier than usual - but the brand doesn't skimp on packaging nor formulation. Here's a rundown of my experience with Marc Jacobs cosmetics!

The Marc Jacobs Undercover Perfecting Coconut Primer (P2,312) is a hydrating and brightening primer that suits dry skin best. It actually feels more like moisturizer than primer; the mild milky coconut scent helps with that impression! It makes skin feel supple and hydrated. It has a silicone-y feel, which helps to smooth out pores a bit.

I have combination oily-skin which becomes drier with cooler or rainy weather, so I find that this works for me when my skin feels under-nourished. Does it help my makeup stay on longer? Not really. But it sometimes takes the place of my moisturizer!

I love using this as a primer for full-coverage, long-wearing foundations as it does grant a more skin-like finish. It has no visible shimmer, but lends a dewy effect to the skin. You can see it in my FOTD below!

The Marc Jacobs Air Blush in Kink & Kisses (P2,620) comes in beautiful compact and has a cute striped pattern featuring two colors. Blended together, the shade is a lovely sheer pink that looks great against my medium skin tone. The lighter strips have a bit of shimmer while the darker strips are matte; the margins on both sides have just enough room for you to use just one shade, if you wish.

The camera wasn't able to capture the blush color accurately as I applied a sheer layer only, but you can see the natural pink flush

Forget how pretty this looks though; the formula is crazy long-wearing on my oily combination skin as it kinda leaves a stain. I actually played an hour of tennis wearing this, and after sweating buckets and patting my face with a towel several times, I still have some blush left on. That's almost unbelievable for a powder blush, except it actually happened.

Normally, I can get about five to six hours of wear with this blush. I also like that Kink & Kisses is the kind of neutral pink that's neither too cool or warm; it works with a lot of different lipsticks! I'm a fan of *sorta* matching my lipstick and blush so this is a great addition to my kit.

The Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (P1,402) is a creme lipstick with a buttery glide, moisturizing effect, and pigmented color. It has an oblong-shaped packaging that clicks suavely in place with a magnetic closure. It's hefty; the weight underscores the price.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a great everyday pink that should look great on all skin tones. On me, it's almost an MLBB! I think it's the kind of color that slightly changes depending on the skin tone of the wearer.

Staying power, like the blush, is superb. It's still there six hours and one full meal later! There's some fading in the center but it's not at all noticeable. The formula is still largely intact.

A nude gloss is always a good idea if you want to wear your lip liners or lighten up a lipstick. The Enamored High Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer in Sugar Sugar (P1,307) is a nice choice if you need a plumped-up, ultra glossy lip! I like that it doesn't settle on lip lines or feel overly sticky. It has a peppermint scent.

The wand is bendy and easy to work with. Sugar Sugar is a nude shade, too nude for me alone, but it does have about 70% opacity on my lips. The texture is thicker than I would like, but it doesn't feel tacky or uncomfortable.

I am living for these MJ eye stuff! The Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer (P1,206) and Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara (P1,638) is the tandem to beat. Both are super black and do NOT smudge on me - wait, did I say they were super black? I've tried so many liners and mascaras, but these two have got to be the blackest of them all.

The Highliner in Blacquer is an auto liner that is so creamy, it almost feels like I'm using liquid liner. It's a gel liner that glides easily and is intense in one go. I actually have to be carefully because the tip is soft and is super sensitive to pressure! It never smears or smudges on me even after ten hours of wear. It's the kind of gel product that sets like cement.

It comes with a sharpener hidden in the butt part of the pencil, but I don't use it for fear of cutting off the tip.

The Major Volume Mascara delivers the goods when it comes to volume. One coat and it thickens up the base of the lashes instantly. It also creates a nice fanned-out, curled-up shape for my lashes that doesn't wilt throughout the day! I find the curvy wand easy to use in terms of depositing product and removing clumps.

Hello, volume!

This mascara flakes, but only a little bit, and only after say five hours of wear. The flakes do not smudge so I don't mind so much as I can dust it off with tissue. Like the eyeliner, the Major Volume Mascara doesn't smudge or smear on me. I wear a light layer for everyday, and go bolder for my event makeup.

This is with ZERO retouch. Notice how there's barely any smudging on my eye makeup; the lipstick is still there and so is a hint of the blush. I'm oily though, as the MJ primer is best for dry skin.

Overall, I love everything that I've tried so far from Marc Jacobs Beauty! The packaging is perfection (as expected), but I'm also impressed by the formula. If I had to pick out the top three, I'd go with the mascara, liner, and blush! These are daily basics I always pick up by this point.

Let me know what you think, as always! Have you tried anything from Marc Jacobs so far? What's on your wish list?
