Quick Rave: Why I Love The Lululun Cleansing Balm Rich Moist

Another day, another story about me loving a Japanese beauty product. I can’t help it! J-Beauty has got to be my favorite, favorite beauty movement and category hands down. I love that Japanese brands constantly innovate and they do it at fantastic price points too. Their products, for me, are the best in the world and they happen to suit Filipino needs too. A good chunk of the beauty products I use on a daily basis is from Japan and it wasn’t a conscious decision; it’s just what makes sense.

And so, today, let me share a quick rave about the LuLuLun Cleansing Balm Rich Moist (P995 for 90 grams, available in Beauty Bar).

If you’ve been to Japan then you know that LuLuLun is one of the most popular beauty brands there. You can spot it even in the corner 7-Eleven or Ministop aside from the Matsumoto Kiyoshi and Sundrug! LuLuLun is most hailed for their sheet masks but recently they released cleansing balms too. There’s a Clear Back variant to help with declogging pores, as well as the Rich Moist which is what I have today.

Quick mention about the packaging: the top is opened by pressing down and releasing the lock! How handy as I don’t need to screw and unscrew the cap.

Rich Moist is supposed to help remove dead skin to improve skin brightness, with Pink Volcanic Soil Powder, Arnica Flower Extract, and Vitamin C to help with the process. I don’t take actives in cleansing products seriously (they wash off pretty fast) but thought I’d mention them!

What I love about this cleansing balm is that it has an extremely silky, buttery texture that almost melts to the touch. Almost - it still stays fairly solid once the balm is in my hands, but it melts as soon as it’s rubbed into the skin. It has a thin, non-waxy texture which I love. It removes ALL makeup fairly quickly, even my Heroine Make waterproof mascara! You know how tough that is to take off.

Even when I accidentally get the product in my eye it doesn’t sting; it washes off without irritating my eyeballs which is a huge plus. The product has a very light scent, nothing too notable.

Once I’m done with breaking down my makeup in massaging motions with the LuLuLun Rich Moist cleansing balm, it washes off clean with water. There is no feeling of having a film covering my skin! My facial wash lathers properly on top so I don’t have to do a second round.

My only complaint with the product is that it feels like I need too much of it to remove my average amount of makeup. I usually take maybe 2/3s to a full teaspoon on average to fully cleanse my makeup, which I feel is not the same as a cleansing oil. So a little does NOT go a long way with this cleansing balm.

Still, the LuLuLun Cleansing Balm Rich Moist has become my go-to makeup remover because it’s comfortable to use and highly efficient when it comes to taking off even the toughest makeup. And of course, it’s great to travel with since it won’t spill. I will likely buy when I run out!

What do you think? How do you remove your makeup these days?
