Hot Right Now: An exclusive first look at Happy Skin’s latest mattes
Can you believe that Happy Skin Cosmetics is less than four years old? It certainly feels like we’ve known them a lot longer, considering how their products have become kit staples and cult favorites for many of us! If we had to choose just one product from their line to recommend, it would definitely have to be their best selling lipsticks available in matte, satin, and liquid formulas. There’s no doubt that the stellar formula of the Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippies are what put Happy Skin on the map. These creamy, moisturizing, and opaque crayons are a joy to use and they last for about four to five hours on my lips before I have to reapply.
The two new shades under the Matte lippie line (P649 each) are called Indulge Me and Under The Sheets. Indulge Me is a rosy brick red that’s both day and night time appropriate. Under The Sheets is a muted coral nude that will bring a healthy bronzed flush look to your complexion.
The Project Vanity team collectively loves the Liquid Matte Lippie formula (P699 each). Enriched with cupuaçu butter, they sit comfortably on the lips despite the true matte finish, and are smooth and pigmented in just one swipe. While they won’t last through a meal like most mattes, I find that they’re easy enough to reapply without causing the product to unpleasantly bunch off.
On my NC25-NC30 skin, the shade Warm Embrace initially registers as a warm peach pink, but oxidizes to a brick nude after a few hours of wear. Either way, it’s a universal color that will go well with most eye looks, which I find is the kind of shade that Happy Skin would almost always gravitate to.
Hot Stuff, which was previously introduced in the I’m A Preview Girl x Happy Skin collaboration as a Moisturizing Matte Lippie, gets its rebirth as a liquid matte formula. It’s a marsala red that will instantly transform your look to date night glam.
