The GRWM Radiance Tints: Finally, a local concealer brand with 12 shades

After first discovering Mae Layug’s GRWM Cosmetics and being pleasantly surprised by the Multi-Use Creamy Tints, I’m back with reviews and swatches of their latest multipurpose makeup offering! The Radiance Tint (P349 / 8ml via LazMall or ShopeeMall) is a tubed concealer line that comes in 12 shades and 12 possible uses.

I think it’s important to mention that GRWM is the first local brand (that we can recall) to have 12 shades of a particular base product. Most local brands would only really have maybe three or five at most, but I love how Mae Layug pushed the envelope on this one. A more inclusive shade range is definitely a win for the local beauty industry!

And now, on to the review. I have primarily tested these skin tints out as concealer, with my NC-15 / NW-18 complexion being compatible with the shade 09 Butter. On the under eye area, I notice that the best application technique is to stick to one pass. The light, liquid consistency is easily patted on by the ring finger and already significantly brightens the area while sheering out enough so as not to settle into fine lines.

This concealer CAN be used as a full coverage concealer despite them being called “tints”. Just use a generous amount and blend away! However, do note that the second application already looks a little cakey and tends to accentuate fine lines even after setting powder is applied. That’s why you should work with only one layer, which is really enough for most of our needs.

03 Ivory, 06 Porcelain, 09 Butter, 18 Sienna, 21 Almond, 24 Chestnut, 27 Umber, 30 Caramel, and 36 Cocoa

Your right: bare skin; your left: 09 Butter as concealer

Twelve shades are currently available, but there are plans to further expand in the future. The selection is broken down into three undertones: yellow, neutral, and peach, with shades equally representing fair/light, medium, and deep. From personal experience, I like the way the warmth of the peach-toned concealers lean into the color correcting effect, like how a red lippie can balance out dark circles. Though it was more challenging for me to select a shade I could test for contouring/bronzing, since an ashy or neutral coloring would be more ideal for that purpose.

I used 09 Butter on the under eye area, cheeks, and chin; 03 Ivory to highlight brow bone, nose, and cupid’s bow; 36 Cocoa to contour the sides of the nose, jawline, and cheeks

In terms of longevity, the Radiance Tints stayed on surprisingly well when it came to the less oily parts of my face (under eye, cheeks, jaw). I observed only mild fading after the 6th hour, whereas my T-zone was starting to show signs of fading at hour three and was significantly faded by hour six as my skin naturally started to get oily. (This also applies to the deeper contour shades I used on my nose and cheeks.) Even though I was sweating, there was minimal streaking.

There are only two aspects that I’m going to be more critical of. First, the formula doesn’t quite sink in all the way into bigger pores. It takes a little extra effort to buff it in or perhaps use a pore refining primer to help achieve a smoother appearance. Second, the scent to me is quite artificial. I do hope it can be a more neutral scent in the future!

But overall, this is a nice everyday concealer that can even allow me to skip foundation on good skin days. Let me know what you think of this concealer!
