EB Advance Compact Powder: Is this mattifying powder a winner?
'Tis the season to get dolled up! And with all the Christmas parties popping up this holiday season, we don’t want our faces to look as shiny as the lechon on our plates. Getting a good mattifying powder is key to keeping makeup on fleek even if a party lasts all night long. As an oily-skinned gal on a budget, I tend to keep a lookout for products to help me stay matte so I got very excited with the release of Ever Bilena's Advance Supreme Whitening Compact Powder. At just P249 (introductory price), I don’t need to bust my holiday bonus just to get a good mattifying compact powder!
The powder claims to “keep shine at bay with its oil control formula and also enriched with moisturizers and mulberry extract that helps brighten and whiten skin”. It's housed in a white compact and comes with a sponge applicator. When I first swatched this, the powder immediately reminded me of the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, which I love. It feels very velvety, and offers medium to full coverage. There are two shades available: Nude Beige and Natural. I found that Nude Beige matched perfectly with my NC30 skin tone so I think the shades are very appropriate for Pinays. There is a mild scent that reminds me of the Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder but it soon fades away once you apply the powder to your face.

I first tried using it on top of a light foundation to see if there is any whitening or brightening properties from the powder. With a fresh application, the EB powder does a good job in mattifying my foundation. It also helped blur out my pores and brightened my skin tone! As opposed to the swatches, it only provided light coverage but made my skin appear smoother.
My makeup looked airbrushed for the next 3 to 4 hours! By hour 6 though, my face started getting oily and I could see my blemishes peeking through.

When using the powder alone, I found that the packaged sponge applicator worked well to pat the pigment all over my face. It provided light-medium coverage with brightened my complexion.
Surprisingly, my 6th hour makeup check looked pretty much the same as when I used foundation underneath! There's a bit of shine and fading but the powder is not completely gone.
The EB Advance Supreme Whitening Powder seems like the perfect product to use for a “gandang pulbo and lip tint” kind of look. The vibe is fresh and youthful! It really did a good job of brightening my face and keeping me matte for 4 to 5 hours.
Though it works pretty well on its own, I feel its best when worn on top of a light foundation to add a bit more coverage. I recommend setting it with a very light dusting of loose setting powder to prolong wear time if you have extremely oily skin like mine. It's also a good retouch powder to carry along for quick touch-ups throughout the day, though you probably won't need it until hour 5!
