Love: The Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Afternoon Glow

The Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Afternoon Glow (P2,650) is the kind of product that makeup junkies live and die for. It's a beautiful champagne bronze highlighter with a fine, fine texture and a quiet intensity that catches the light just so. It looks like you took a breathtaking afternoon by the mountains and poured it into a pan! It's part of Bobbi's new Sunset Pink Collection inspired by the soft twilight in Telluride, Colorado - it's the kind of light that bathes everything it touches in a warm glow.

Now this highlighter is expensive and not something that's an absolute "need", but it's worth the price tag as with most Bobbi Brown products. The true mark of a good highlighter is when it only flashes in certain angles; it shouldn't look like you have headlights on your face no matter where you turn. Afternoon Glow only shows up when the light hits it. When I face a person straight, it doesn't look like I have shiny dirt on! Part of it is the application technique, but it's also the product and how complex and fine the pigments are.

I just really pat this on with my fingers. I love it on my upper lids, lower lids, waterline, cheek bones, middle bridge of the nose, and the bow of the lips. It's a bit too pigmented for the brow bone but everywhere else it imparts a natural glow that's effortlessly diffused. You may use a fan brush or even something like the MAC217 but I'm happy with the pigmentation and precision I get with just fingers.

In this look, I wore Afternoon Glow on the upper lids, lower lids, cheek bones, middle bridge of the nose, and the bow of the lips. It's a great multi-use product that can carry a simple look like this up a few notches!

Staying power is pretty good! It barely fades on my cheek bones and takes about 5-6 hours before it comes off my eyes. It doesn't fall apart easily with a little sweat and oil, but as with all powders, a few hours of wear will cause it to fade. Afternoon Glow is a great highlighter nonetheless, one I will definitely recommend to highlighter lovers and collectors. ^_^

I also have the Sheer Color Cheek Tint in Sheer Lilac (P1,650) from the Sunset Pink Collection. It's a cream blush that makes my cheeks look like I just worked out for an hour. It looks more like a stain, but it feels like a cream. In any case it's a hydrating cheek color for those who need moisture there.

If you're oily though, you might prefer a powder blush instead. I do like the effect and effortless application (blending is a breeze) but it isn't something I'd wear if I want the color to stay all day. It's a great cheek choice for no makeup makeup days; it even works as a sheer lip color since it feels like a balm.

So there you go! ^_^ Let me know what you think of these new releases!
