Best In 2016: The Project Vanity Top 15 Face Color Finds

Now we come to everyone's favorite part: makeup! Let's begin with the face color products that rocked our year. We've included foundations, powders, highlighters, contour, and blush in this list as these products all work together to enhance our pretty mugs. The items included here were launched in 2016, and/or were made available this year by distributors, here in the Philippines.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF50 PA+++ (P2,900) / Available in Rustan's and Bobbi Brown stores

We got obsessed with cushions this year but have yet to find a Korean one that matches our natural coloring to a T. This one from Bobbi Brown looks like skin - it's like we're not wearing anything! It refines texture and has a glowy finish. Can't argue with the sun protection, too.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup To Go Liquid Compact (P2,690) / Available in Rustan's and Estee Lauder stores

This liquid foundation comes out of a hole, but it's certainly more hygienic than the traditional cushion packaging. We love how long-wearing this is while providing a good amount of coverage. It's what we pick up when we want something that's quick to apply, hydrating on skin while being long-wearing, and covers up what needs to be gone.

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Liquid Foundation (P3,750) / Available in Rustan's and Guerlain stores

Heavy, skin-like coverage, all day wear, and a naked finish are the hallmarks of Lingerie De Peau. This major reformulation released last fall takes all of that to a whole new level. One layer is all it takes to get the skin you know you deserve!

Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face & Body Foundation (P2,700) / Available in MUFE stores

This is probably one of the most - if not the most - lightweight foundations out in the market. A modern reformulation of a classic formula, the Water Blend feels exactly like water and blurs out pores, fills in fine lines, and evens out the skin - all without anyone knowing better. It's great for oily skin and stays on for a good amount of time. This is the liquid foundation to try if you've hated LFs most of your life!

La Mer Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20 (P6,650) / Available in Rustan's

This is an excellent, heavy coverage foundation with a velvety matte finish. It's perfect for mature skin that needs to have deeper lines filled in without the cakiness. It stays on all day, too!

Kanebo Full Radiance Foundation SPF 25 (P3,300) / Available in Rustan's

If you need more coverage and more hydration, this new Kanebo foundation should fit your skin like a glove. It provides medium to heavy coverage without being obnoxious about it. It makes skin glow - a lit-from-within kind of radiance, not at all shiny. Get this if you have dull, dry skin that needs a boost.

Guerlain Multi-Perfecting Concealer (P2,000) / Available in Rustan's and Guerlain stores

This is one of the best under eye concealers we've found because it hydrates that sensitive area and does not cake, while providing a good level of coverage. A little goes a long, long way.

L'Oreal Micro Perfecting Powder Foundation SPF36 PA+++ (P600) / Available in department stores

This is one of the best powder foundations from the drugstore in our humble opinion. It has a fine, well-milled texture that melts on skin - not just sit on top - and provides light to medium coverage. The sun protection rounds it up nicely!

La Mer The Powder (P5,250) / Available in Rustan's

This offers little coverage and comes in only one shade, but it coats the skin with this subtle radiance. Keeps away oil effectively, too, and extends the wear of your base makeup.

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Clear Pact (P678) / Available in SM Beauty and Tony Moly stores

This is our favorite retouch powder! It ends shine with only a few pats, has a translucent, fine finish, and the soft sponge is just perfect for the job. We confess we chose this because of the cute panda design, too.

Sleek MakeUp Highlighting Palette in Cleopatra’s Kiss (P875) / Available in Watsons and SM Beauty Stores

We loved Solstice, but this warmer highlighting palette takes the cake. It's perfect for morena skin and looks like a beam of light when applied! It's a drugstore palette but it can certainly be compared to high end ones in terms of quality.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter (P379) / Available in Watsons and SM Beauty Stores

If you prefer a more subtle highlight though, you should hunt down the Pure Nude. This gives skin a warm, innocent glow, and can be dusted lightly all over the face as a finishing powder if you wish.

Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Highlighter in Modern Mercury (P3,100)

Sold out within a day everywhere, this powder is one of the highlights (get it?) of 2016. It's a warm, bronzy hue that's especially beautiful on Asian skin. The packaging is to die for, too!

Cargo Water Resistant Blush (P1,250) / Available in Beauty Bar

Are you oily/sweaty and have yet to find a blush that stays on reliably? Then you should check this one out! It's a water-resistant formula, but it works well for oily skin too. It's what we wear when we play sports and want to keep a nice flush of color even after sweating buckets.

Pop Beauty Contour 101 Matte Effect (P1,090) / Available at Glamourbox and Zalora

Three colors are really all one needs to get that sculpted look. This palette has a good selection of shades that should match a variety of skin tones! It's easy to blend and lasts pretty well on skin.

And that is that! We hope you enjoyed our list. Stay tuned for the next ones as we post them throughout the week before the new year. Now, it's your turn. Which 2016 face color products made your year? Sound off in the comments!
