My top five BB creams
I've said it before and I'll say it again: BB creams have come a long way. No longer are they thick and unwieldy, they're now more comfortable in humid weather, with a more perfecting finish. Well, the shade selection is still limited but if you fall in the fair to medium range then you shouldn't have any trouble.
Now three of the BB creams featured here are too light on me, but that's because I didn't get the chance to choose the right shade. That notwithstanding the formula of these BB creams are amazing! Here's why I highly recommend them. :)
The Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream is hands down my favorite BB cream ever. It stays put, matches my skin perfectly (luckily), and has such a flawless, photogenic finish. It's definitely something I would buy when I run out!
A lot of people don't like that this doesn't have SPF - it's unheard of for a BB cream to have no SPF! - but for me that feature is a boon. At least this product can be worn pretty much any time during the 24-hour day. It's not a big hassle for me to just use my preferred SPF moisturizer/base if I am going out in daylight.
Best for: girls with oily skin, who need a photo-ready face base. Light to medium range only (two shades).
Almost invisible yet quite illuminating, the VMV Hypoallergenics Skintangible SPF30 enhances the skin with just the slightest hint of tint. It's perfect for the "no makeup makeup" look - I've demonstrated this product to that effect! The sheerness and neutral color of Skintangible makes it friendly to darker skintones. So, if you've lost hope on BB creams for your morena skin, you have to check this one out.
Best for: morenas, dry to combination skin, super natural skin finish. One shade only, best for medium to medium dark tones.
I love the Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion SPF50 mostly for the convenience it offers. It comes in a compact with a sponge that actually applies the product well. It's sheer like Skintangible but Snow BB has a buildable coverage (which the latter doesn't). The SPF50 also doesn't hurt if you're lazy. As for the texture, it's ultra light, almost watery. Very ideal in our weather although you would need a separate moisturizer if you're dry.
Best for: travel junkies, busy bees who don't have time for brushes and too much blending, combination skin. Three light to medium shades available.
The Etude House Precious Mineral Sun BB Cream is sweat and oil resistant, has SPF50, and medium/heavy, matte coverage. It's what I consider to be a heavy-duty face base. Really useful if you're super oily and always out in the sun! It's perfect with the Precious Mineral Sun BB Pact (also with SPF) come retouching time.
Best for: physically active people who need coverage, oily skin. Three light to medium shades available.
Etude House Precious Mineral BBdation SPF40 is similar to my favorite liquid foundation, the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow. It gives this poreless, polished finish - more on the satin end compared to Fairydrops demi-matte. And this has SPF if you're looking for something specifically to be worn during the day.
Best for: pore issues, brightening, dry to combination skin. Three light to medium shades available.
