Neutral Palette Battle Royale

Do you like seeing your makeup together? I do! I'm sure you understand how I feel if, like me, you enjoy collecting and using makeup. You get that tiny thrill inside when you know that you have nice stuff you can depend on.

That's why I thought to feature a neutral palette face-off. It's limited to my small collection of neutral palettes, but I wanted to quickly share with you my capsule review of each palette for, well, posterity. I've been steadily using neutrals most of the time these past few months, and I guess I want to keep tabs on my constant beauty companions. Hope you find this feature useful!

Note: Most of the palettes featured here are sadly limited edition or not available locally.

Neutral palettes: Youngblood Artiste Palette (with two MAC eyeshadows attached), Estee Lauder Deluxe Eyeshadow Compact, Bobbi Brown Champagne Quartz Eye Quad, Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad in Natural Smokes, Wet n Wild Color Icon palette in Vanity

Let's start shall we?

Estee Lauder Pure Color Deluxe Eyeshadow Compact

Pros: 18 wearable and flattering shades are housed in a sleek and sophisticated gold compact, quite affordable if bought with the blockbuster set

Cons: Limited edition, not available anymore; Some colors are too sheer even with base underneath

Verdict: Nice to have because it's extremely convenient for traveling, but you can miss this if you're happy with only a few colors in one palette.

Youngblood Artiste Palette

Pros: Your one-stop box for a pretty neutral face, the Youngblood Artiste has everything you need. The blushes are high-quality and the eyeshadows are highly pigmented and long-lasting. For the amount you get, it's cheap at only P999.

Cons: Lip glosses are underwhelming. I believe that this has already been sold out. Hopefully Beauty Bar brings this in again, as well as the other versions!

Verdict: You should have gotten this when you had the chance! I highly recommend this to makeup newbies who are looking for high-quality makeup without the price tag.

Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad in Natural Smokes

Pros: Surprisingly good for a drugstore brand; Well-milled, pigmented eyeshadows come in flattering taupe shades; Cheap

Cons: Not available in the Philippines. However I'm sure the local Maybelline has an equivalent neutral palette for this at a nice price.

Verdict: Must-have! I hope Maybelline brings this line here so I can get more!

Bobbi Brown Champagne Quartz Eye Quad

Pros: No one makes neutral eyeshadows like Bobbi Brown, and I daresay that this is the best neutral palette I have. It definitely has the pretties day-to-night shades! It's quite small (around the size of a Bobbi Brown blush) but it packs a lot of punch.

Cons: Limited edition. I believe Bobbi Brown doesn't sell this anymore. Sad!

Verdict: If you ever come across this on eBay, snatch it up! This was given to me by Bobbi Brown Philippines yay.

Wet n' Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in Vanity

Pros: Pigmented, long-lasting colors you can mix and match in a variety of day and night looks; cheap at only P500 for six colors in generous amounts. It's available in the country right now in most department store beauty aisles.

Cons: The lighter colors tend to be chalky; Cheap packaging

Verdict: Overall a great palette to have. For the price, you really can't go wrong.

Aaaand that's it! Whew! I know I mostly raved about the palettes, but they're all great so what else can I say?

Tata!
